At #inextremis, we build websites as digital experiences that resonate. When we embarked on redesigning the European University Association (EUA) website, we knew it wasn’t just about structure or aesthetics. It was about crafting a platform that felt intuitive, inviting, and reflective of the EUA’s vital role in shaping European higher education.
We remember the first time we navigated EUA’s previous site. It had valuable content, but finding the correct information felt like solving a puzzle with too many pieces.
That’s when it clicked: this project wasn’t about a simple refresh. It was about creating an experience that made users feel guided, informed, and connected.
The European University Association (EUA) is more than an organisation; it’s a voice, a network, and a force driving positive change in higher education.
Representing over 850 universities and national rectors’ conferences across 49 European countries, the EUA influences policy, fosters institutional development, and promotes collaboration at a continental level.
Its insights help shape the future of universities, making it an essential player in Europe’s academic landscape.
With such a crucial mission, EUA needed a website that inspires trust, fosters engagement, and serves as a true digital hub for the academic community.
Creating the new EUA website wasn’t just about organising content. It was about understanding how people engage with it.
Here’s how we made that happen:
When someone lands on a website, their first impression matters. The redesigned homepage offers a warm, structured gateway, immediately highlighting the latest insights, upcoming events, and key resources.
No more endless clicking—everything essential is right there, waiting to be explored.
EUA’s work shaping higher education policies is at the heart of its work. But policies can be complex, and if they’re not presented clearly, they risk being overlooked.
We restructured policy topics into intuitive, digestible sections, making it easier for stakeholders to explore themes like university funding, academic freedom, innovation, and sustainability.
EUA produces an impressive array of reports and studies, yet finding the right one used to be a challenge.
The new publications library offers innovative filtering options—by topic, year, or type—so users can quickly access their needs. Clean, engaging layouts ensure that reports are downloadable and inviting to explore.
EUA’s conferences, workshops, and webinars unite Europe’s academic leaders. We knew the events section had to be a vibrant hub where visitors could easily browse past and future events, register, and access detailed agendas and speaker profiles.
News shouldn’t be buried under layers of navigation. The new newsroom is an easily accessible space that brings together press releases, thought leadership pieces, and opinion articles, ensuring that EUA’s voice is heard loud and clear.
We ensured a fully responsive design with so many users accessing the site on the go. Whether browsing from a desktop, tablet, or smartphone, visitors get a smooth, intuitive experience that adapts to their screen.
The result? A website that inspires connection and purpose. Every decision was guided by one question: How does this improve the user’s experience? And that’s what we do best at #inextremis—crafting digital spaces that feel effortless, engaging, and aligned with our client’s missions.
