EUROPEAN SCIENTIFIC NON-PROFIT · INTEGRATED ANNIVERSARY AND EVENT COMMUNICATION
Turning a 40-year milestone into a living story of scientific connection.
ILSI Europe’s anniversary and scientific symposium created an opportunity to do more than celebrate longevity. Working with the Secretariat and organising committee, we shaped one narrative and communication ecosystem around the people, disciplines and collaborations that allow science to grow over time.

The challenge
An anniversary should renew relevance, not simply revisit the past.
ILSI Europe needed to honour four decades of scientific collaboration while keeping attention on the organisation’s current purpose and the questions ahead. The communication also had to serve different needs: explain the symposium, engage professional audiences, support participation, create a distinctive event experience and preserve the value of the moment afterwards.
Without a shared frame, these elements could easily have become a series of disconnected outputs. The task was to give every channel and format a clear role within one recognisable story.
The approach
1. Clarify what the milestone means
Through dialogue with the ILSI Europe team, the anniversary was framed as a collective recognition of the people and relationships behind the science. This shifted the emphasis from institutional self-celebration to connection, contribution and continuity.
2. Create one narrative and visual metaphor
The guiding theme — ‘40 Years of Connection — Grown by Science, Strengthened by Collaboration’ — connected scientific rigour with human networks. A stylised geometric tree gave the idea a visual form that could work across screens, social content and the physical event environment.
3. Give each channel a precise role
The dedicated website became the strategic hub; LinkedIn developed the story progressively; the identity and on-site design carried the same visual language into the event; and the digital legacy preserved the network, materials and memories beyond the symposium itself.
4. Keep strategy and governance connected
Close coordination with the Secretariat and organising committee kept scientific content, practical information, visual choices and the evolving programme aligned. The organisation retained control of its expertise and editorial decisions while the communication system protected coherence.

One story across the full experience
Every touchpoint has a different job — but they all belong to the same narrative.
- 01
A dedicated website combining anniversary story, event information, programme and speakers.
- 02
A Tree of Collaboration making the organisation’s network and research branches visible.
- 03
LinkedIn storytelling designed for anticipation, live relevance and post-event continuity.
- 04
A visual identity and on-site system built around the same metaphor of interconnected growth.
- 05
A legacy space that gives participants access to photos, slides and the continuing story.
The impact
The milestone became an expression of purpose, not an interruption in the organisation’s work.
The integrated system allowed ILSI Europe to present its history as a living network of scientific contribution. Visitors could understand the event, recognise the anniversary idea across channels and reconnect with the people and knowledge behind the organisation.
The case shows what multichannel communication should achieve: not repetition everywhere, but a clear role for every touchpoint within one credible, recognisable experience.

What should your next flagship event continue to communicate after the room has emptied?
Bring us the milestone and what it needs to make possible beyond the date itself. We can help connect narrative, channels, participation and legacy in one proportionate assignment.
